A conference showcasing technological innovation achievements of universities in Shandong province and Hong Kong was held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on May 29.
The conference aims to bring together cutting-edge technological achievements, high-end talent, and social capital from both Shandong and Hong Kong in order to enhance the level of technological innovation cooperation between the two regions.
Ren Youqun, Party secretary of Shandong University, said at the opening ceremony that he hoped that Shandong University would deepen industry-university-research cooperation with Hong Kong through the conference.
The joint laboratory on reproduction and genetics, which was established between the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Shandong University in 2013, has made a series of research achievements, which set an example of cooperation among universities, according to Ren.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has strong cooperation potential for technological innovation in both industrial development and talent cultivation, said Chen Weiyi, vice-president of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The university will fully leverage its strengths and deepen academic exchanges and cooperation with institutions in Shandong province, he added.
