The Shandong University Hong Kong Research Institution was inaugurated in Hong Kong on May 28.
The institution is designed to leverage the university's alumni resources and promote the joint construction of advantageous disciplines.
It is the first of its kind established by a university in the Chinese mainland and aims to become a comprehensive research institution that fosters mutual cooperation and attracts global talent.
Ren Youqun, Party secretary of Shandong University, attended the inauguration ceremony and expressed his heartfelt thanks to alumni in Hong Kong, who have long supported the university's initiatives.
Hong Kong possesses unique advantages in connecting with overseas alumni, collaborating with international universities, attracting high-level talent, and building international platforms, Ren said.
The institution will play a pivotal role in deepening practical cooperation among universities and fostering a network for mutual discussion, construction, and sharing, he added.
