The National Event for World Blood Donor Day 2024 was held at the Cheeloo College of Medicine of Shandong University in Jinan, capital of East China’s Shandong Province, on June 14.
Zeng Yixin, deputy head of the National Health Commission, Chen Ping, vice governor of Shandong Province, and Ren Youqun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong University, delivered speeches at the event.
In his address, Zeng fully acknowledged the achievements of voluntary blood donation work in China and thanked all blood donors and other volunteers across the country.
Chen underlined the importance of fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation and creating a supportive environment that respects and cares for blood donors so as to encourage more people to participate. Ren encouraged the students of Shandong University to set a good example in blood donation, enhance their health literacy, promote the spirit of selfless dedication, convey sincere emotions, and safeguard lives with their actions.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day, with the slogan "Celebrating 20 years of giving: Thank You, Blood Donors!" During the event, students from Shandong University actively participated in voluntary blood donation.
