Zhang Chenghui, professor of the School of Control Science and Engineering at Shandong University, won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for being one of the main contributors to the smart testing and control key technology and industrialization achievement for the large capacity battery energy storage system, announced at the National Science and Technology Awards Conference held in Beijing on June 24.
Shandong University, a participating institution, won a total of four second prizes in the national science and technology progress category.
The large capacity battery energy storage system is of great significance in stabilizing fluctuations in new energy sources and regulating voltage and peak loads.
Professor Zhang led his team, developing a series of products related to large-capacity energy storage and testing systems, achieving large-scale industrial application. These products have been sold to over 150 countries worldwide, supporting major engineering projects both domestically and internationally and generating significant economic, social, and ecological benefits.
