On July 20, Hussain Al Hammadi, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, led a delegation to visit Shandong University. Shandong University President Li Shucai met with Hammadi and his delegation at the university's Qingdao campus.
Li thanked the UAE embassy in China for its support in the development of Shandong University and introduced the university's history, academic strengths, and international cooperation.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE, and Li expressed hope that the two sides would take it as an opportunity to further promote mutual communication and exchanges within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
By leveraging the strengths and resources of both sides, more efforts will be made to deepen cooperation in high-end talent cultivation and cutting-edge scientific and technological fields and promote integrated development in areas such as humanities, education, agricultural development, and environmental governance, according to Li.
Hammadi explained the overall situation of higher education in the United Arab Emirates. He stated that Shandong University and UAE universities have a solid foundation for cooperation and that they will further support the expansion of collaborative areas. This includes establishing a regular cooperation mechanism in distance education, student exchanges, scholar visits, and scientific research.
