On July 22, Shandong University President Li Shucai met with Shuhei Kishimoto, governor of Wakayama prefecture of Japan.
Japan and China are close both geographically and culturally, said Li. Shandong University has been engaging in academic exchanges with nearly 30 Japanese universities and established a solid foundation for cooperation, he added, while also noting that Shandong University will make efforts to promote friendly interaction and academic exchange with universities in Wakayama prefecture.
Kishimoto highlighted the fruitful cooperation results between Shandong and Wakayama prefecture over the past 40 years and recalled his unforgettable experiences engaging in academic exchanges at Shandong University. He expressed hope that the two sides will further promote in-depth communication through academic cooperation and talent exchanges.
Shandong province and Wakayama prefecture established a friendly relationship in 1984. Over the past few years, Shandong University has established friendly cooperative relationships with Wakayama Medical University and Wakayama University, engaging in a series of exchanges and collaborations in areas such as group visits, talent cultivation, and academic research.
