On Aug 30, the Shandong University – Inspur Institute of Artificial Intelligence was launched at Shandong University, marking a significant collaboration between the university and the corporate sector.

Ren Youqun, Party secretary of Shandong University, said that the joint efforts of academia and industry in establishing the AI school aims to promote interdisciplinary integration and industry-education fusion, as well as cultivates top-tier innovative talent in the field of "AI+" to create a world-class platform for innovation with Chinese characteristics.

Zou Qingzhong, chairman of Inspur Group which is a leading Chinese provider of cloud computing and big data services, said that Inspur will pledge continuous and increased support for the institute, including bolstering financial investments to enhance the development of relevant disciplines and scientific research breakthroughs. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing resource sharing, with the group's research platforms, production bases, and application scenarios being made accessible to students.

Adhering to a collaboration model between the university and the corporate sector, the AI school will leverage the strengths of both institutions to focus on organized scientific research and serve as a significant source of original innovation, with the goal to establish itself as a major incubator for industrial achievements.
