The first "Hisense Cup" Campus Marathon Invitational was held at Shandong University's Qingdao campus on Oct 12.
The event welcomed nearly 2,000 students from universities including Shandong University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nankai University, Wuhan University, and the Ocean University of China.
The competition featured three categories – a half marathon (approximately 21 kilometers), a quarter marathon (approximately 10 kilometers), and a mini-marathon (five kilometers), with each category divided into men's and women's groups.
Shandong University President Li Shucai emphasized the significance of the marathon at the opening ceremony, encouraging students to develop resilience through perseverance in running, foster a spirit of excellence, and strengthen their character.
Li Yongjie, a student of Shandong University's School of Physical Education, won the men's half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 56 seconds. In the women's half marathon, Li Yingjie, a student of Shandong University's School of Economics, claimed victory with a time of 1 hour, 39 minutes, and 24 seconds.
Dong Shuo, a student of Shandong University's School of Physical Education, won the men's quarter-marathon in 36 minutes and 39 seconds. Wang Hui, a student of Shandong University's School of Physical Education, took first place in the women's quarter marathon, finishing in 45 minutes and 46 seconds.
