Adhering to an international strategy, the Weihai Campus of Shandong University is building a global partnership network to advance high-level international cooperation and exchanges. With a focus on international cooperation among students, faculty members, curriculum setup, and scientific research, it strives to enhance its global competitiveness and influence.
Over the past 40 years, the Weihai Campus of Shandong University has leveraged educational resources and engaged in deep cooperation with key universities worldwide, as part of serving the country’s opening-up strategy.
In expanding its global "circle of friends", it has signed cooperation agreements with prestigious universities such as Hanyang University in South Korea, University of California, Berkeley in the United States, Australian National University, and the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Weihai Campus of Shandong University has broadened its global collaborations and international exchanges through long-term partnerships with over 120 universities and research institutions in 15 countries and regions.
Moreover, it has continuously optimized the model for cultivating international talents, fostering an atmosphere conducive to international education. As of September, around 7,000 students were sent to foreign universities on long and short-term study programs, with more than 1,700 of them receiving financial aid.
The university has been approved for three Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in partnership with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Australian National University, and the University of Western Australia.
In building a high-level international faculty team, Weihai Campus of Shandong University has continuously enhanced the recruitment of foreign experts. It also takes measures such as special funding, which supports over 2,000 faculty members to participate in international academic conferences, engage in international exchanges in scientific research, and dispatch more than 30 teachers to overseas partner universities for curriculum training.
It also strives to promote international scientific and technological cooperation, admitting international students to facilitate cultural exchanges. More than 14,000 international students have been admitted from over 50 countries.
