Ren Youqun, Party secretary of Shandong University, led a delegation to Singapore from Oct 8 to 9 to strengthen educational collaboration.
The delegation commenced their visit by paying a courtesy call to the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, followed by participation in a high-level meeting on open cooperation and exchanges between Shandong Province and Singapore. They also held discussions and conducted activities with representatives from renowned Singaporean universities such as Nanyang Technological University and Singapore University of Technology and Design.
At Nanyang Technological University, Ren and his delegation met with the university’s vice-president Lam Khin Yong. Both parties expressed their commitment to deepening inter-university cooperation, expanding collaboration in disciplines such as artificial intelligence, management, and education, and exploring new paths for joint educational endeavors.
Ren also visited the Confucius Institute at Nanyang Technological University, where he received updates on the preparations for the institute's 20th-anniversary celebration. Emphasizing the need to enhance the institute's leadership in Southeast Asia and maximize its role as an international exchange platform, Ren made specific recommendations for further development.
A meeting of the council members of the Jinan-NTU Green Technology Research Institute, a collaborative effort between Shandong University, Nanyang Technological University, and the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation, was also held during the visit. The meeting involved discussions on the organization and management structure of the research institute and outlined plans for future endeavors.
