Li Shucai, president of Shandong University, led a delegation to South Korea from Nov 4 to 6 to deepen intercollegiate exchanges, expand academic cooperation, promote collaborative programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields, and facilitate industry-academia-research partnerships, with the ultimate aim to enhance educational resources sharing between China and South Korea.
The tour took Li and his delegation to esteemed universities such as Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, and Yonsei University.
During the visit to Sungkyunkwan University on Nov 4, both sides engaged in discussions on deepening cooperation in the fields of materials science, electrical engineering, and civil engineering, and expressed their intention to collaborate on joint high-level talent training programs.
A special recruitment event for high-level talents was held at Sungkyunkwan University, aiming to recruit top-tier professionals in South Korea to bolster the university's "Double First-Class" initiative.
On Nov 5, the delegation visited Hanyang University, where they signed agreements including the Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Education between Shandong University and Hanyang University and an agreement to optimize student exchange programs. They also agreed to establish Shandong University's first global competency overseas workstation, which would seek to initiate high-level international collaborative education and innovative talent development programs.
The delegation also explored ERICA (EducationResearch Industry Cluster at Ansan) and Hanyang University's campus, known for its industry-academia-research collaboration. Li emphasized Shandong University's commitment to industry-academia-research collaboration and expressed hopes of collaborating with Hanyang University on technology transfer, innovation project incubation, and regional economic development services.
The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, toured architectural marvels at Ewha Womans University and explored the design and construction concepts of underground public spaces at Yonsei University.
