The centennial celebration of the alumni gate of Shandong University Cheeloo College of Medicine was held at the university's Baotuquan Campus on Nov 20.

The alumni gate has witnessed the remarkable development of the Cheeloo College of Medicine, including its outstanding achievements and the spirit of perseverance and dedication among its alumni, said Ren Youqun, Party Secretary of Shandong University, at the ceremony.

The alumni gate was established in 1924, funded by donations from more than 1,000 alumni.

Qin Huaijin, former deputy director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and an alumnus of the university, delivered a keynote speech and recalled wonderful memories of his alma mater more than 40 years ago.

At the ceremony, Ren presented the letter of appointment of honorary professor to Martin Belgo, Vice President of the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. Belgo said that Karolinska Institutet will deepen cooperation with Shandong University and work together to make outstanding contributions to human health.
