The Third Yellow River Development Forum and the Eighth Shandong-Qinghai Forum were held on Dec 8 in Jinan, the capital of East China's Shandong Province.
Jointly organized by Shandong University and Qinghai Normal University, the event aimed to explore new thoughts and initiatives related to the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, with the ultimate goal of advancing Chinese modernization.
During the event, the Yellow River National Strategy Research Institute at Shandong University unveiled its latest research achievements , including an annual report on the environmental protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin in 2022 as well as the "Flora of Shandong".
Ren Youqun, Party secretary of Shandong University, highlighted the university's deep connection with Yellow River culture, citing its significant achievements in the ecological protection of the Yellow River Delta, environmental governance, water and sediment regulation, high-quality economic development, and cultural research.
He pledged that Shandong University would leverage the role of the Yellow River National Strategy Research Institute to work with governments along the Yellow River, Qinghai Normal University, research institutions, enterprises, and other stakeholders to promote ecological conservation, resource efficiency, and green, low-carbon and high-quality development, serving as both an innovative model and a practical example for advancing the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
Cao Guangchao, vice-president of Qinghai Normal University, said that the forum has effectively promoted in-depth exchanges and cooperation between Shandong and Qinghai in various fields such as culture, education, science and technology, academia, and ecological protection.
More than 200 experts, scholars and representatives from universities, research institutions, and think tanks along the Yellow River attended the event.
