Professor Jack Joseph Dongarra, the winner of the Turing Award, along with a delegation from the China Center of Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, recently visited Shandong University for academic exchange.

Shandong University President Li Shucai warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed admiration for Professor Dongarra’s outstanding contributions to the field of high-performance computing. He also introduced the university's advancements in computer science and artificial intelligence.

Li emphasized that high-performance computing is driving progress in artificial intelligence. He said he hopes the two sides will work together to push forward development in various fields, build high-level cooperation networks, and promote talent exchange, seeking to enhance Shandong University’s global influence in AI.

Professor Dongarra said that over the past decade significant progress has been made in the field of high-performance computing, which has played a crucial role in advancing artificial intelligence and scientific computing.

Dongarra expressed hope that the China Center of Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences and Shandong University will further expand their cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence to explore AI academic research and promote the innovative development of artificial intelligence in scientific research.
