Alister Jones, deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Waikato, led a delegation to Shandong University from March 13 to 14 and received a warm welcome from Ren Youqun, Party secretary of Shandong University.
During the visit, Ren highlighted the strong ties between China and New Zealand, which provide a solid foundation for international cooperation in the field of education. He expressed his hope that the two universities would leverage their unique strengths, enhance exchanges and interactions between faculty and students, and deepen mutual cooperation.
Jones introduced the University of Waikato and expressed his desire for both sides to explore opportunities to expand cooperation in international education, as well as to improve the capabilities of faculty and students.
During the visit, the delegation conducted a survey of the Weihai campus and signed a Memorandum of Understanding. They also engaged in discussions on student development, faculty collaboration, and academic cooperation.
