The School of Cryptographic Science and Engineering was inaugurated at Shandong University on March 22.
The school is intended to serve as a Chinese-style world-class innovation platform in cryptographic science, with a focus on cultivating top-tier innovative talent.
Shandong University is a national leader in the development of cryptographic science, boasting an internationally renowned cryptographic team led by Wang Xiaoyun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The School of Cryptographic Science and Engineering will concentrate on cutting-edge research in cryptographic technology and major industrial demands in the sector, emphasizing the cultivation of high-level interdisciplinary talent.
It will prioritize the effective application of research achievements, promoting a "3+1" development framework that encompasses public key and post-quantum cryptography, AI security, and cryptographic engineering and applications.
In collaboration with China Unicom, the school has also established a joint innovation center, which will adopt a distinctive development model integrating innovation, talent, and industry. The center will focus on two core technological areas - "Cryptography + AI Security" and "Data Computing Security", exploring a talent cultivation mechanism that combines scientists and engineers.
With the goal of promoting innovation in the new cryptographic industry, the center will address critical core technological challenges needed by industries, catalyzing new cryptographic productivity and empowering high-quality development in the digital economy.
