More than 1,400 Shandong University (SDU) alumni from across China recently reunited at its Qingdao campus to celebrate the 40th anniversary of SDU Alumni Association of Qingdao, honoring four decades of connection, collaboration, and meaningful impact.
In a video address, Ren Youqun, Party Secretary of SDU, praised the association's long-standing commitment to serving the alma mater, uniting alumni, and supporting Qingdao's development. He encouraged the association to continue leading by example, building stronger platforms for engagement, and contributing to regional and national growth.
Xiao Li, President of SDU Alumni Association of Qingdao, offered a heartfelt reflection on the association's 40-year journey. Since its founding, she noted, the Qingdao alumni association has remained closely connected to its alma mater, contributing in various ways to the development of the Qingdao campus and actively supporting the university's growth. Looking ahead, the association aims to build diverse service platforms, deepen the heritage of alumni culture, and strengthen its role as a vital link connecting alumni, advancing the university’s mission, and supporting local development.
Ji Fang, Head of the Qingdao Bureau of Social Organizations, commended the association's achievements in innovation, cultural exchange, and public services. She expressed her desire for it to continue acting as a catalyst for talent, investment, and high-quality development.
The event also launched a forum promoting collaboration between local universities, alumni, and Qingdao's development goals. A joint declaration was issued by nine local universities and alumni, pledging support for the city's modernization. A celebratory performance capped the gathering, showcasing alumni pride and artistic talent.
