A delegation led by Ren Youqun, Party Secretary of Shandong University (SDU), visited the University of Cambridge and its innovation arm, Cambridge Enterprise, to renew their cooperation agreement on May 20.
During the signing ceremony, Ren highlighted the successful partnership between the two institutions and expressed hope for deeper collaboration in innovation management and research commercialization. He stressed the importance of integrating the university science park with the school's innovation ecosystem, expanding interactions, and exploring new interdisciplinary cooperation opportunities.
Diarmuid O'Brien, Vice-Provost of the University of Cambridge and a member of Cambridge Enterprise, acknowledged the achievements of the partnership and pledged continued support for SDU's innovation efforts and regional ecosystem development.
The renewed agreement focuses on collaboration in entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems, offering specialized training programs for SDU's faculty members and administrators, and jointly developing international talent cultivation projects to enhance students' global competitiveness.
The delegation also held discussions with various Cambridge departments on optimizing the entrepreneurial environment, sustainable campus development, and talent cultivation. They visited the Cambridge Science Park and other innovation centers to learn from Cambridge's advanced practices in startup incubation and technology transfer.
