Shandong University (SDU) delivered a historic performance at the Grand Final of the 2025 China International College Students' Innovation Competition, held from Oct 12 to 15 at Zhengzhou University, Henan province.
The competition was a large-scale event, attracting over 24.43 million participants from 161 countries and regions. SDU sent 11 projects to the final on-site competition, securing a total of six national gold medals and five silver medals.
The six gold-medal-winning projects encompassed a diverse range of high-impact innovations, including a 3D inspection device for chip packaging using OCT technology, an AI distillation application for anti-money laundering supervision, a pioneering dual-functional hydrogel for targeted antibacterial therapy and periodontal regeneration, a first-of-this-kind projection-interactive AI companion robot, an advanced intelligent sensing and control equipment, and a new model for recovering and digitizing Chinese classic texts scattered worldwide.
This impressive success reflects a concerted, campus-wide effort. Since preparation began in January, 27 schools have established dedicated working groups. The university organized over 300 hours of project guidance through nine training camps and twelve pre-competition acceleration camps, significantly enhancing the overall competitiveness of the participating teams. This achievement underscores SDU's strength in fostering high-level, interdisciplinary student innovation.
