The Shandong Metaverse Industry Development Seminar and the SDU-GoerTek Cooperation Forum convened on Oct 26 at Shandong University (SDU), signaling a major push to advance the metaverse industry within the province.
Chen Ping, Vice-governor of Shandong province, emphasized the metaverse's pivotal role in shaping future industries. He called for all parties to actively participate in national strategies and global competition, highlighting the strategic partnership between SDU and GoerTek as a model for innovation, talent cultivation, and industrial cluster development. Shandong province pledged substantial support in terms of policy, funding, and services to fuel the metaverse's growth.
Yu Haitian, Deputy secretary of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee and Mayor of Jinan, underscored the city's commitment to building a complete electronic information industry chain. He encouraged deeper collaboration between universities, government, and enterprises to translate research into practical applications. Jinan plans to establish ongoing communication mechanisms and improve industrial policies to foster a thriving metaverse cluster.
SDU President Li Shucai highlighted the event's aim to integrate technological and industrial innovation. He showcased the SDU-GoerTek Metaverse Research Institute as a crucial platform for fostering new growth drivers. SDU is committed to strengthening partnerships, attracting top-tier talent, and undertaking major national scientific projects to establish a leading hub for metaverse technology and applications.
GoerTek Chairman Jiang Bin emphasized the significant market opportunities presented by "AI + Metaverse". He elaborated on the existing progress and promising future of the SDU-GoerTek Metaverse Research Institute, aiming to make it a model for industry-research collaboration in Shandong, promoting mutual benefits and shared success.
The event also featured presentations from GoerTek and SDU representatives, showcasing technological advancements and research achievements in the metaverse field, and exploring avenues for future collaboration.
