A delegation led by Mr Hoàng Minh Sơn, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), visited Shandong University (SDU) on Nov 10. SDU Executive Vice President Wu Zhen met with the delegation at the central campus, where the two universities signed a cooperation agreement.
Wu noted that the agreement, signed during the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam, is a step toward building a strategically significant China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He proposed strengthening tripartite cooperation with Chinese enterprises, using international Chinese language education as a bridge to enhance cultural exchange and academic collaboration. The ultimate goal is to create a high-level "Technology Innovation + Industry Synergy + Talent Cultivation" integration hub for the joint training of high-level scientific talent.
President Hoàng Minh Sơn expressed readiness to deepen resource sharing and establish a long-term, efficient cooperation mechanism. He advocated for diverse initiatives, including joint training, student exchange, and short-term visits, to cultivate high-caliber professionals with global perspectives and a deep understanding of both cultures, thus boosting socio-economic development and mutual understanding between the two nations.
The agreement paves the way for all-around cooperation in research synergy, faculty-student exchanges, and talent development.
Discussions also focused on advancing collaboration in academic exchange, joint excellent engineer training, establishing joint laboratories, and medical education. Additionally, representatives from both universities and Goertek Company met to discuss a "Top University + Leading Enterprise" model for jointly cultivating engineering talent.
