On April 18, President Ho Teck Hua of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, led a delegation to visit Shandong University (SDU), marking a significant step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two institutions. This high-level exchange focused on enhancing academic collaboration and fostering a more resilient framework for international education.
During the meeting, SDU President Li Shucai highlighted the achievements since the partnership was established in 2005. Over the past two decades, the universities have developed a robust collaborative community, launching key platforms such as the Confucius Institute and the Joint Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence. Li expressed hope to further integrate scientific research and talent cultivation, aiming to build a model for practical cooperation between China and Singapore.
President Ho introduced NTU's recent achievements in scientific research, talent development and research commercialization. He stated that the shared educational philosophies and cultural connections between the universities provide a strong foundation for future growth. By aligning their strengths in academic development and resource sharing, he expressed a willingness to build a long-term, closer partnership.
In addition to the administrative discussions, President Ho delivered a keynote report to SDU students. He engaged in an exchange with faculty and students about breakthrough research in Asian universities and the impact of campus culture on personal development, encouraging the next generation of scholars to strive for excellence on the global stage.
