A student team from Shandong University (SDU) has received a special recognition for its technological innovation at an award program organized by the Communist Youth League of China. The award recognizes outstanding young people in fields such as technological innovation and social practice.

Founded in 2022, SDU's Geek Group is a student team dedicated to engineering innovation and exploration of future technologies. Guided by the principle of bringing science to reality, the team transforms scientific ideas into practical engineering solutions. It has attracted nearly 700 students from diverse academic backgrounds and grade levels.

Geek Group has developed a systematic training program that spans from basic learning to project development. Through a mentorship system and the ICCE model, which connects students' interests, training, competitions, and industry experience, the team helps students improve their engineering skills through hands-on projects.

In recent years, Geek Group has carried out technological research in areas including artificial intelligence, robotics, and industrial automation. One of its projects, an OCT-based 3D inspection system for chip packaging, developed an independent prototype and earned a national gold award at the China International College Students' Innovation Competition.

The team has published 10 academic papers, filed more than 20 patent applications, and won numerous awards at the national, provincial, and university levels.
