The International Workshop on Probability Theory and Stochastic Analysis was held at the Weihai campus of Shandong University (SDU) from Aug 8 to 12. More than 180 scholars from over 50 universities and research institutions at home and abroad attended the workshop.
The workshop was jointly organized by SDU's Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences and the School of Mathematics.
Participants came from universities and institutions in China, the United States, France, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Among them were New York University, the University of Washington, the University of Oxford, Paris Dauphine University–PSL, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The workshop focused on recent developments in probability theory, stochastic analysis, and their applications. These fields play an important role in areas such as mathematical finance, stochastic control, data science, statistical physics, and artificial intelligence.
A total of 73 invited speakers presented research on a wide range of topics in probability and stochastic analysis. The program provided opportunities for researchers to exchange ideas on emerging theoretical questions and explore connections with related mathematical and interdisciplinary fields.
Peng Shige, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and dean of Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, said that probability theory and stochastic analysis possess wide-ranging applications and significant potential for further interdisciplinary research.
