A delegation from Shandong University (SDU) visited the United Kingdom (UK) from Sept 7 to 11, where they held talks at Durham University and attended the 36th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow, aiming to deepen cooperation in student education, academic exchange and joint research.

Founded in 1989, the European Association for International Education (EAIE) is a non-profit association for professionals committed to promoting higher education exchanges. Its annual conference and exhibition is Europe's largest international higher education event and drew participants from over 100 countries in 2026.

During a partner event at Durham University, the delegation met representatives from the university's international office and academic departments. The two sides discussed deeper cooperation in physics, mathematics, archaeology, engineering and law, including joint education programs, faculty and student exchanges, and academic collaboration.

The delegation also visited Trevelyan College and University College (Castle) to gain insights into Durham's collegiate tradition and how the system has evolved in a modern university setting.

At the EAIE conference, SDU held talks with nearly 20 universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, the University of British Columbia, the University of Alberta, the University of Bristol, the University of Nottingham, the University of Valencia and Toyo University.

SDU introduced its student exchange programs, research internships and international summer schools. It also reached a series of agreements with various universities on student and faculty exchanges, joint education programs and research cooperation in areas of shared strength.
