Abstract:
Among others, the debate on the Belt and Road Initiative involves ite impact on the process of globalism, casting the BRI as a new form of globalization. Drawing on a research in progress, this report offers an analysis on regionlization processes in East Asia as it relates to China. Asking whether there is a tendency to overemphasize the new wave of globalization at the cost of region making, this report offers a survey of regionlization and globalization, and investigates the potential implications of the BRI-led globalization discourse for China’s role in East Asian regionlization.
