Abstract:
In 1948, Shannon founded the mathematical theories of communication, which solved the theoretical problems of information transfer and inaugurated research on information theories. Information not only refers to a communication concept, but also a scientific concept. However, the basic problem of information has not been well solved for a long time. Strictly speaking, entropy is the amount of uncertainty, information is the eliminated uncertainty, and the amount of information refers to the amount of the eliminated uncertainty. Therefore, just like number, information is also a basic concept of nature and the real world. What are the basic laws of information as a scientific concept? In this lecture, I will introduce the basic laws of information (here information as a scientific concept), the basic paradigm and problem of information science and the relations between information science and other disciplines such as machine learning and machine intelligence.
