Abstract:

In this talk, we will explain what is the problem of infinite spin in the n–body problem, which occurs for both collision and parabolic solutions of the n–body problem. In the planar n–body problem, Moeckel and Montgomery had showed recently that there is no infinite spin for total collision solutions. We show this does not happen for parabolic solutions either. With our approach Moeckel and Montgomery's result for total collision solutions can also be extended to partial collision solutions. This is a joint work with Zhe Wang.
