Abstract:
Liouville conformal field theory (CFT) arises as the worldsheet theory of bosonic strings and 2D quantum gravity, while Virasoro Topological quantum field theory (TQFT) is expected to model 3D quantum gravity. In this talk, I will present recent joint work with Tianyue Liu, Shuang Ming, Xin Sun, and Tian Yang. We construct a family of Turaev–Viro type invariants for compact hyperbolic 3–manifolds with boundary using the 6j–symbols of the modular double of Uqsl(2,R), and show that these invariants decay exponentially at a rate given by the hyperbolic volume of the manifold. I will also discuss the relationship between these 6j–symbols and the fusion kernels of Liouville CFT, based on ongoing work with Promit Ghosal, Guillaume Remy, Xin Sun, and Yi Sun.
