Representatives from 22 of Shandong University's sister universities, including Oxford University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Adelaide, Sungkyunkwan University, and Osaka University, gathered for the 2023 Global Partners’ Week from Oct 22 to 26.
Li Shucai, president of Shandong University, emphasized at the ceremony that international collaboration in higher education plays a crucial role in enhancing global interactions and cooperation. It also serves as a driving force for advancing scientific research and innovation as well as fostering cultural exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.
In line with its internationalization strategy, Shandong University has in recent years established cooperative relationships with more than 200 universities and scientific research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions.
"We hope that through this exchange week, we can create more cooperation and exchange opportunities with colleges around the world and deepen mutual cooperation and exchanges in the global education field," Li said.
At the opening ceremony, Shandong University signed a letter of intent for cooperation, a staff and researcher exchange agreement, and a joint training agreement for engineering students with the University of Illinois at Chicago, Yamaguchi University, and Kumamoto University respectively.
Various forms of academic exchanges including global talent cultivation seminars, exchange exhibitions, overseas study project presentations and international academic conferences, also took place during the exchange week.
