Shandong University (SDU) team won the third place at the 19th "CIETAC Cup" International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which was held from Nov 29 to Dec 3.

Zhou Fengming, one of the team's members, was awarded the individual "outstanding contribution award" at this year's competition.

SDU's seven-member team was formed in mid-September and they actively prepared for this year's competition and used their previous experience to take home a trophy.

The issues presented at this year's competition were highly controversial,including the applicable law of arbitration agreements, CISG applicable arbitration clauses, international goods contracts and counter-offer issues,and the effective inclusion of format clauses.

This year's competition was organized by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and attracted 75 teams consisting of 775 participants from universities such as Peking University, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and China University of Political Science and Law to compete with each other during 155 rounds of competitions.

The "CIETAC Cup" is the English debate competition of its kind for law students in China.
