The team from Shandong University's School of Law won the third place at the 15th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition Mainland China Round, which was held from Dec 11 to 12.
Under the guidance of their associate professor Chi Deqiang, team members Li Yue, Yu Aixin and Sun Wenli began preparing for the competition at the end of July. They attentively studied international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
This year's competition attracted 57 teams from universities including China University of Political Science and Law, Jilin University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shandong University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University,and was judged by 60 experts from home and abroad.
The competition was launched in 2007 and has become one of the most important international law moot court competitions in China.
Students have achieved significant improvements in legal research, legal reasoning and analysis, pleading, oral debates and other aspects while participating in the competition, which is of great significance to promote the cultivation of talent in foreign-related law affairs.
