Shandong University (SDU) received a number of medals at the recently held 2021 National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition. SDU also won the best organization award.
An SDU team of four students from the School of Mechanical Engineering won the national third-place prize in the final competition, while one other took gold medal, five took silver and one took bronze in a variety of different competitions.
This year's competition consists of 11 programs in three categories – basic, intelligent plus, and virtual reality – attracting 66,000 students from 690 universities across the country.
SDU laid high emphasis on the on-campus qualification trials for the national competition. A total of 160 teams from Jinan, Weihai and Qingdao campuses applied for 11 competition programs, making SDU the only university in Shandong province to have teams participate in all the competition programs.
Participants came from various SDU schools, such as the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Energy and Power Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, and the School of Mechanical, Electrical, Information Engineering.
The National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition is a high-level competition recognized by the Ministry of Education, which aims at improving students' ability in engineering and innovation, promoting cross-disciplinary integration, helping universities cultivate talent.
