Shandong University (SDU) launched an online Chinese learning program for teenagers from Thailand on Jan 10, attracting 262 students from Thailand and Laos.
The 10-day program includes various language and cultural courses such as comprehensive Chinese, communication training, and HSK test tutoring. The program adopts dynamic teaching methods to improve students' Chinese language abilities and enlarge their understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
Thailand is one of the countries with the largest number of Chinese learners and is progressing the fastest in Chinese language teaching.
SDU's College of International Education continues to cooperate with local institutions and schools in Thailand to offer Chinese teaching support in recent years.
Based on an online Chinese learning program that the college jointly developed with a middle school in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2020, this year's program extended cooperation with three other Thai schools and recruited teenage students from Laos.
Ma Xiaole, dean of the College of International Education encouraged the students participating in the program to seize the opportunity of learning and communicating together as well as deepening cooperation with each other.
