Participants from Shandong University (SDU) won one grand prize, one first place prize, one second place prize and eight third place prizes at the 17th Challenge Cup National University Students Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition on March 29.
Participants from SDU's School of Business were awarded the grand prize for their research on super recycling edible mushroom residue. SDU's School of Space Science and Physics won first and second place prizes for their projects "Theory and application research on fast ice melting" and "Research on the regulation mechanism of perovskite materials energy band", respectively.
Participants and projects from SDU's other schools, such as the School of Management, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of History and Culture, and the School of Mechanical, Electrical, and Information Engineering, received third place prizes.
The "Challenge Cup" competition, regarded as the "Olympic" event among university studentsin scientific and technological innovation, plays a positive role in promoting the growth of young innovative talents in universities, deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education, and promoting economic and social development.
This year's competition attracted more than 2 million university students from over 2,000 higher education institutions across the country, with 1,260 projects entering the final competitions.
SDU attached great emphasis on the organization of the competition and students' participation in different sessions during the competitions, including the campus competition, the provincial competition, and the national competition. SDU organized the provincial competition and won the highest award.
