Post-graduate students from Shandong University were awarded one first-place prize, 20 second-place prizes, 38 third-place prizes, and the Outstanding Organization Award at the 18th National Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling awards ceremony, which was held online on April 23.
The first-place prize was given to a SDU team formed by postgraduates Zhao Wenyuan, Li Jinglun, and Chen Guicheng from the School of Control Science and Engineering.
This year's contest included six topics, such as modeling of deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's, and airline crew scheduling optimization. 17,692 post-graduate teams from 535 domestic and foreign post-graduate cultivation units submitted thesis on these topics.
The SDU team chose and carried out modeling research on the topic "modeling of deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's" under the guidance of Professor Shang Yunlong.
The contest is a key part of the China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Competitions, aiming to improve postgraduates' ability to solve practical problems using mathematical models and internet information technology. It is also a vital platform to cultivate postgraduates' innovative scientific spirit and teamwork.
In addition, this year's China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Competitions plans to hold 13 themed contests covering key sectors including integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, robots, rural vitalization, and "dual-carbon" technology.
