Fu Guiqing, a postgraduate of Shandong University's Fine Arts School, won the gold prize at the 2022 European Elite Piano Competition recently, while her mentor Sun Tian was given the outstanding instructor award.
A total of 135 competitors from over 20 countries and regions participated in the competition, including China, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Austria.
Professor Nigel Clayton from the Royal Academy of Music, Steinway Artist Svetlana Belsky, Professor Paolo Francese from Conservatorio Di Musica A. Vivaldi, and Associate Professor Fu Hong from the China Conservatory of Music, were among the 20 judges of the competition.
The European Elite Piano Competition is a piano competition organized by the European Classical Music (ECM) Awards, which is dedicated to discovering and promoting talented musicians of all ages from around the world and rewarding them for their hard work.
Fu, a 2021 postgraduate student of SDU's Fine Arts School, won SDU's first-class disciplinary special scholarship.
She has also won many awards in piano competitions at the provincial level in China since 2018.
