Princeton Global Scholar Peng Shige

Recently, Professor Peng Shige , a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences and School of Mathematics of Shandong University, was recruited by Princeton University as a 2011-2012 Princeton Global Scholar.

The Council for International Teaching and Research of Princeton University speaks highly of Peng's work in its letter of appointment."Shige Peng is one of the most original and active contributors to the field of probability theory and financial mathematics. Recognized around the world as a leading figure for his work on backward stochastic differential equations and nonlinear expectations, he has had a profound impact in both mathematics and financial engineering. He has been a plenary speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians , one of the highest honors given to mathematicians. In the course of his visits to Princeton, Peng will give some lectures and teach short courses. In addition to what Peng will offer in Princeton will be his vital support for our students and colleagues who seek collaborations in China, where his status and position promises to open new doors."

The Princeton Global Scholar Program aims at strengthening international academic communication and boosting the development of science.It enables the University to recruit stellar scholars from outside the United States into recurring, multi-year teaching appointments at Princeton in all disciplines and regional studies programs. The scholars are incorporated into departments' and programs'curricula and events, and engage in scholarly exchange with Princeton faculty and students. There are three distinguished scientists who have been recruited, the fisrt recruitment in 2011. All of them are leading figures in their respective fields worldwide. Professor Peng Shige was jointly recommended by three departments at Princeton, and was finally recruited. It showcases his leading position in international mathematics fields.
