From April 16th to 18th, Prof. Serge Makarov, Vice President of Perm State National Research University, Russia, led a delegation to pay a visit to Shandong University. Chen Yan, Vice President of Shandong University, met with Prof. Serge Makarov and his delegates.
During their conversation, Chen extended his warm welcome to Prof. Makarov and his delegates. He introduced the diploma program and the situation of SDU students' overseas exchanges, and also proposed suggestions on how to reform the students' exchange forms, sources of fund and so forth.
Chen expressed his hope that the two sides to discover new fields for cooperation for the purpose of language education.
Prof. Makarov expressed his gratitude for the gracious welcome from Shandong University. He introduced the situation of the Perm State National Research University in detail, and made a positive response to the proposal of Chen on means of promoting further collaboration.
He also expected the two universities to launch a series of cooperation programs on staff and student exchange, scientific research, Chinese language teachers' training and some other aspects.
Tong Guangwu, Director of International Office of Shandong University, Wang Junju, Dean of School of Foreign Languages and Literature, also participated in the discussion.
During their stay, the delegation held work talks with staff from the International Office, Teaching Affairs Department and Graduate School of SDU. Their visit also included a trip to the School of Physics, College of International Education and School of Foreign Languages and Literature. Furthermore, Prof. Boris V. Kondakov, the Chief of Faculty of Philology, Associate Professor Tatyana B. Karpova, gave academic reports during their stay.
Perm State University was founded in 1916. Now Perm State University has the status of the National Research University and it is a member of the leading Russian universities group including 2 national, 9 federal and 29 research universities.
On September in 2011, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature at Shandong University signed cooperation agreements with the Faculty of Philology at Perm States National Research University.
Associate Professor Tatyana B. Karpova, from Perm States National University, had worked in the Faculty of Russian at Shandong University from 2000 to 2002.
