On June 21st, the 2012 International Students’ Graduation Ceremony of SDU was held on the central campus of Shandong University. Nearly 600 international graduates from 102 countries, 53 Chinese postgraduates who will soon obtain their Master degree of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, teachers, their relatives and friends attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Jiang Suhua, the Secretary of the Party Committee of College of International Education, represented the entire college extending his heartfelt congratulations to 164 degree students, 280 language study students, and 131 preppie who had obtained a China Government Scholarship, for they overcame difficulties in life, study and language, integrating themselves successfully into Shandong University within a short time. He also expressed his congratulations to the Chinese postgraduates graduating this year, for they went abroad to teach Chinese during their school term, promoting a positive image of the students of Shandong University and acting as a bridge through their commitment to education and cultural exchange.
Liu Changming, professor of School of Political Science and Public Administration and also representative of supervisors, and Zhang Xueguang, a teacher at the College of International Education and a representative of students for advanced study, both delivered speeches, expressing congratulations to students for their finishing school successfully.
The representatives of international graduates gave speeches and sincerely thanked their teachers for their patient guidance in their studies and in daily life. They were also grateful for the concern and support that all the students showed for on another. They said they would always remember that they were from Shandong University wherever and whenever they went.
During the ceremony, winners of ten “Excellent Graduate Students” and six “Shandong University Campus Star” awards were announced. Vice President of SDU Fan Liming and Jiang Suhua handed out the awards to the winners and congratulated them for their outstanding achievements both in and out of school.
This was the first time that “Excellent Graduate Students” and “Shandong University Campus Star” awards were handed out in Shandong University. The awards aim to set examples among the students, cultivate talents, and build a high-quality educational environment for international students.

Ning Jiming, Dean of College of International Education, handed out Chinese and foreign degree students and language study students “graduation certificate” and “certificate of advanced study” and took photos with them.

Directors of related functional offices and training offices, tutors and whole teachers of College of International Education, and about forty parents of graduates from South Korea, Mozambique, Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Marshall Islands, Pakistan, South Africa, Lesotho, Philippines, Kenya, Laos, Botswana, Ethiopia, Indonesia and other countries attended the graduation ceremony.
