A delegation led by Han Shenghao, Vice President of Shandong University(SDU) and President of Shandong University, Weihai(SDUW) paid a visit to the Australian National University(ANU) on September 28, received by Dr. Erik Lithander, Vice President of ANU, who represent Ian Young, President of ANU. The two parties signed framework agreement of all-round cooperation between SDU and ANU, and executive cooperation agreement on mechanical, electrical and information technology between SDUW and ANU.
Han first briefly introduced SDU, and said that SDUW, a campus of SDU, had unique strength in discipline construction, personnel training, research innovation and international education and exchange. He also pointed out that SDU and ANU had achieved productive results in academic cooperation. For instance, Dr. Thushara D. Abhayapala, Dean of College of Engineering & Computer Science of ANU visited SDUW in June, 2012 and gave a splendid lecture to the students. Also, 2+2 Dual-Degree Program in Computer Science had been carried out in SDUW and was showing good results. Dr. Erik Lithander said that the new agreement signed between the two universities was a milestone for ANU's future cooperation with other universities of China and he was willing to do his utmost to promote further cooperation with SDUW.
In accordance with the new agreements, the two universities will carry out academic exchanges and dual-degree undergraduate and postgraduate programs in computer science and relevant majors. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. John Hosking, Dean of College of Engineering & Computer Science of ANU, Lain Watt, Director of International Operations and Student Recruitment of ANU, Prof. Zhao Gang, Deputy Director of NAOC and Xu Xifeng, Director of the International Office of SDUW.
Located in Canberra and founded in 1946, ANU tops the Group of Eight in Australia with its superb academic atmosphere, outstanding teaching resources and many Nobel Prize Winners, attracting students from all over the world.
