Recently, “Lexicology International Academic Conference (LIAC) - the 9th Chinese Lexicology Academic Seminar" was held on the central campus of Shandong University. The conference was hosted by the Literature and Journalism School of SDU (LJS), and co-organized by the Commercial Press. Chen Yan, the Vice President of SDU, attended and addressed the conference.
In his speech, Chen introduced the history and the situation of SDU. He fully acknowledged the hard efforts and achievements of all the language lexicology scholars of LJS. He also proposed his own ideas about the development of lexicology combining with his own experience.
Famous linguist Professor Ge Benyi delivered the opening speech on behalf of the organizing committee. She opened by introducing the preparation, the characteristics and arrangements of LIAC to be sponsored by SDU. She hoped that all participants could be proactive to make their voices heard, contribute to discussions and jointly promote process in Chinese academic lexicology research.
The two-day conference was mainly divided into two parts: delegate speeches and group discussion. Zheng Chun, Dean of the Literature and Journalism School, attended the conference and delivered a speech,Professor Tang Ziheng chaired the conference. Nearly 200 experts and scholars from South Korea, Singapore, as well as China, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan participated in the conference. Some officials from the Academic Research Department of SDU, LJS, College of International Education, also attended the conference.
