Gregar Ales, the Vice Rector of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic recently visited Shandong University. Fang Hongjian, the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of SDU, held discussions with the delegation, exchanging ideas on the further promotion of cooperation between the two universities in such fields as student exchange, double degree projects, scientific research, and the renewal of their intercollegiate cooperation agreement.
Fang expressed his warm welcome to the delegation from Zlín, which has established the friendly province-state relationship with Shandong Province. He also gave a brief introduction of Shandong University’s history, features of disciplines, and their strategy for international exchange.
Ales expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from SDU. He said the Tomas Bata University is a progressive university and has many similarities with Shandong University in various fields. Furthermore, he expressed his hope to promote cooperation between the two universities by finding more similar fields of interest.
Afterwards, the delegation visited and has discussions with the representatives from the SDU International Affairs Department, the School of Economics, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the School of Information Science and Engineering. The delegation and these schools agreed to work towards collaborative projects in areas which include student exchange, double degree projects, and scientific research.
During their stay, some members of the delegation visited the College of International Education and the Chinese Culture Experience Hall on the Central Campus.
Ms. Blahova Michaela, the Director of International Office of Tomas Bata University, Professor Hlavacek Petr, Vice Dean of Faculty of Technology of Tomas Bata University, Professor Palka Premysl, Vice Dean of Faculty of Management and Economics of Tomas Bata University, and Professor Prokop Roman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics of Tomas Bata University, were part of the delegation.
