Jennifer Rankin, the Minister for Police, Correctional Services, Road Safety, Multicultural Affairs, and Emergency Services for the South Australian State Government, recently led a delegation to visit Shandong University. The Vice President of SDU, Lou Hongxiang, met with the members of the delegation.
During the meet, Lou briefly introduced the basic information of SDU, and talked about their cooperation with the Adelaide University, University of South Australia and the Flinders University, including setting up a health research center with University of South Australia. He expressed his hope that the cooperation with universities in South Australia could be enhanced through friendly sister state/province relations. He also expressed his hope that both state/provincial governments will support for the collaboration between the two universities.
Rankine said she was very happy to be in Shandong Province and visit SDU. She mainly talked about the emergency work in recent years and their guiding principles on how to carry out emergency work in general.
The Dean of SDU Nursing School Jia Jihui introduced the basic situation of the school, while the Vice Dean Zang Yuli talked about the disaster nursing center and possibility of cooperating with Emergency Services Ministry of South Australia.
Hieu Van Le, Lieutenant Governor of South Australian Government and Chairman of the South Australian Multicultural Ethnic Affairs Commission, Joslene Mazel, Chief Executive of the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion, Blair Boyer, Chief of Staff of Minister Rankine’s Office,and Fion Jia, Deputy Representative of SA Govt China Office, were all a part of the delegation. Zhang Jigang, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Shandong Province, and Zou Nan, Director of SDU International Affairs Department, also attended the meeting.
South Australia is a state in the southern central part of Australia. It established sisterhood relationship with Shandong Province on April 3rd, 1986. SDU has been in cooperation with three famous universities in South Australia, Adelaide University, University of South Australia and the Flinders University. The cooperative fields include Confucianism, pharmacology, nursing care, medicine and archaeology.
