On December 10, Mo Yan was awarded the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm Concert Hall, Stockholm, Sweden. As an invited guest, Xu Xianming, President of Shandong University, attended the ceremony and an evening reception of 2012 Nobel Prize.
As the first president of a Chinese university to be invited to the evening reception of the Nobel Award Ceremony, Xu and Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Lan Lijun attended both the ceremony and the evening reception.
The first Chinese national writer who has won the Nobel Prize in Literature, Mo Yan, a SDU research supervisor, received the Nobel diploma, a medal and a document confirming the prize amount from Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf during the ceremony.
