Just before the Nobel Prize Winner Mo Yan went to Sweden to receive his award, a delegation from SDU School of Literature and Journalism (LJS) which was led by Zheng Chun, Dean of LJS, visited Mr. Mo. On invitation, Mo personally wrote an inscription for LJS which says “inherit tradition, create another glory”.
During their discussion, Zheng first expressed his gratitude to Mo for his dedication and support in his work as a part-time professor and research supervisor in LJS, particularly for his contribution to the training of the postgraduates. Then Zheng introduced to Mr. Mo the seminar on works of Mo Yan and the exciting emotion of faculties in SDU after they got the news of Mo’s Nobel Prize. He also extended warm wishes to Mo.

Mo thanked the delegation for their great concern. He told them that he had received a letter of congratulations from LJS, and he was very grateful for the sincere wish from the faculty and staff. Mr. Mo also expressed his good impression of SDU and reviewed the cooperation between the faculty of LJS and himself in the past decade. In addition, the conversation covered the recent situation around his winning and several arrangements in the near future.
In the end, the delegation consulted with Mo on the specific content and pattern of cooperation in the future and reached an agreement on strengthening cooperation on the current basis. They also formed a preliminary project on the recruitment and training of postgraduates and the arrangement of Mo’s lessons.
People who attended the discussion included Guan Moyan, the elder brother of Mo Yan, and former vice president of No. 1 Middle School of Gaomi (Mo Yan’s hometown), Mao Weijie, general secretary of Seminar on Mo Yan, curator of Mo Yan Literature Museum, and officials from the School of Literature at SDU.
