On February 7th, the latest version of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (WRWU) was released by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC). SDU was ranked 90th of all universities worldwide, being the 3rd of the 5 universities in Mainland China entering the world top 100.

The Ranking Web or Webometrics is the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions. Since 2004 and every six months an independent, objective, free, open scientific exercise is performed by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC) for the providing reliable, multidimensional, updated and useful information about the performance of universities from all over the world based on their web presence and impact. Universities are evaluated through composite indicators as follows: Visibility (50%), which demonstrates the university’s impact by counting all the external in links that the University web domain receives from third parties; Activity (50%), including Presence (1/3), the total number of web pages hosted in the main web domain of the university as indexed by Google; Openness (1/3), which takes into account the number of rich files published in dedicated websites according to Google Scholar; Excellence (1/3), the university scientific output being part of the 10% most cited papers in their respective scientific fields.
