A Delegation from Macquarie University in Australia, including Jim Piper, Vice President in charge of scientific research, visited SDU on March 27. During their visit, a Memorandum of Understanding for Academic and Scientific Cooperation between Shandong University and Macquarie University was signed. Lou Hongxiang, Vice President of SDU, also held a discussion with the delegation.

In their meeting, they exchanged ideas on talent cultivation, academic research, university development, and the cooperation in the fields of bioscience, medical education, clinical medicine, environmental science and humanities. Lou expressed his hope that both universities could increase the amount of exchange students and scholars from both sides.
