Recently, the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC) announced the latest version of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (WRWU). There are 46 Chinese mainland universities ranked among Top 500, with 5 universities ranking among Top 100. SDU is the 113rd one in the WRWU, and the 8th one among the Chinese mainland universities.

This year, there are 16 more universities listed in the Top 500 than last time. The top 10 universities and their world ranking are as below: Tsinghua University, 57; Peking University, 67, Zhejiang University, 76; Wuhan University, 92; Shanghai Jiaotong University, 94; Fudan University, 107; Nanjing Universtiy, 111; Shandong University, 113; Beijing Normal University, 133; Zhongshan University 171. Nine universities in Taiwan and 4 universities in Hong Kong are also listed among Top 500. Including Taiwan and Hong Kong, there are 59 Chinese universities among Top 500.

According to the latest ranking result, the world Top 10 are, in order, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of California-Berkley, University of California-Los Angeles, University of Washington, University of Michigan, Cornell University, University of Minnesota, University of Pennsylvania.
