A delegation led by Chiang Pin-kung, Chairman of Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, former Chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), paid a visit to Shandong University from April 9th to 10th. Jiang Yikang, Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Guo Shuqing, Governor of Shandong Province, met with Chiang Pin-kung and his delegation. Li Shouxin, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shandong University, attended the meeting.

On April 10th, Chiang Pin-kung was awarded an SDU Honorary Professorship Letter of Appointment by SDU President Zhang Rong during the conferring ceremony held at Shandong University. SDU Vice-president Lou Hongxiang presided over the conferring ceremony.

Zhang Rong praised Mr. Chiang Pin-kung for his positive contribution for the cross-Strait exchange. He sincerely hope then Mr. Chiang can teach a large number of teachers and students with his ample financial knowledge and rich governing experience and support the development of SDU in the future.

Chiang Pin-kung stated that he cherished the honorary professorship awarded by SDU and would do his best to contribute to SDU, expressing that, even in retirement, he was still willing to make an effort towards cross-Straits relations.

Mr. Chiang said, as an honorary professor of Shandong University, he has more responsibility and obligation for cross-Straits exchange, and was willing to introduce more colleges and universities in Taiwan to promote talent exchange, as well as cooperation in science and technology.

Zhang Rong and Chiang Pin-kung held a short meeting prior to the conferring ceremony. Chiang and his delegation visited the SDU Museum and the Chinese Culture Experience Hall.
